Salah (Salat) – Prayer - The Second Pillar of Islam

 

What's Salah (salat)? 

 Salah (salat) is the Arabic term for the ritual prayer that is obligatory for Muslims to perform five times each day. It forms one among the five pillars of Islam. 

 The five prayers are 

 Fajr, which takes place at pre-dawn 

.Dhuhr (Dhur, Zhur), which takes place just after the sun reaches its meridian 

. Asr, which takes place between noon and evening 

. Maghrib, which takes place just after evening 

. Isha, which seizes position during the night/ at night- time 

. Away from the five obligatory prayers, Muslims may offer Sunnah and Nafl Salaah. 

 The Sunnah Salah ( prayers) are bones during which the Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him) habit to habitually offers as voluntary deification at specified times and places. 

 Nafl Salah is a voluntary prayer that a Muslim may offer at any time as a kind of redundant Ibadah ( deification). 

 Why is Salah important?
